Shockwave Therapy

A non-invasive treatment of orthorpedic disorders, providing pain relief and the restoration of muscular damage, and more.

Shockwave is short and powerful acoustic sound wave that provides a healing process with a clinically proven 82% success rate with most conditions. It assists in the non-invasive repair of muscle, bone, and joint damage.

What are Shockwaves and how do they work?

Shockwaves are sound waves created outside the body in a handpiece and then transmitted into the patient’s body through the use of ultrasound gel that can help the soundwave penetrate the soft-tissue of the body and have a focused effect on the damaged areas of the body.

In the medical world, sound waves have been used since 1980s to disintegrate kidney stones. Orthopedic surgeons took this idea from urologists and were able to successfully break up calcium deposits in the shoulder. They soon found success in the treatment of Plantar Fasciitis and Achilles Tendinopathies and received FDA approval. Over the years the experts found that a growing number of musculoskeletal problems were successfully treated with Shockwave.

Shockwaves can accelerate the healing process in the body, stimulate metabolism, improve blood circulation and go beyond pain relief to provide tissue healing and regeneration.

After months of research and quality comparison amongst the leading Shockwave providers we decided to incorporate the Storz Duolith SD1 T-Top Ultra generating Focused Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT.) – This advanced technology is clinically proven for a deeper, more comfortable, and comprehensive treatment.  Storz Medical is the international leader in research and quality medical equipment.

Focused Shockwave ESWT is more focused on the area of damage to facilitate healing of both muscle, bone, and connective tissue. Designed to elicit a strong anti-inflammatory effect and to recruit the body’s own stem cells.

Benefits of Shockwave

Accelerated Tissue Repair

Shockwave’s precise energy waves promote faster healing of damaged tissues, reducing recovery time significantly! It is a cutting edge functional medical device approved by the FDA.

Non-Invasive and Pain-Free

A gentle, non-surgical approach with minimal discomfort and zero downtime!

Long-lasting Results

Goes beyond temporary relief, promoting tissue regeneration and release of your body’s own stem cells targeting the damaged tissue, fostering lasting improvements and repair.

Proven Safe and Effective

Shockwave is a noninvasive procedure without needles and does not require numbing agents. Unlike other therapies that can take weeks to take effect, shockwave therapy provides fast results without the use of steroids for immediate pain relief.

No Risk of Moderate Irritation, Swelling, or Bruising

Most patients report improved functionality and quality of life after the procedure, especially those affected by tendon issues.

State-of-the-Art Therapy

This state-of-the-art therapy gently introduces a varied intensity, focused acoustic waves to stimulate regenerative processes on a cellular level, activating your body’s natural healing abilities.

Shockwave for Injury and Pain Management

This FDA approved device has shown its effectiveness to replace the need for costly injections and often help avoid unnecessary surgical procedures. Shockwave treatment is especially effective for those with chronic pain resulting from a condition affecting the tendons and bones, such as:

  • Achilles Tendinopathy
  • Calcific tendonitis
  • Golfer’s Elbow
  • Tennis Elbow
  • Piriformis Syndrome
  • Jumper’s Knee
  • Patella Tendinopathy
  • Osteochondritis
  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Bursitis
  • Stress Fractures
  • Whiplash
  • Hip Bursitis
  • Trigger Finger
  • Frozen Shoulder
  • and more!

The Science Behind Shockwave – The Technical Stuff.

Shockwave is a revolutionary regenerative and therapeutic technology that uses a high energy discharge to promote cellular repair of tendons, bones, and other soft tissues. This discharge communicates with cells, activating an intrinsic repair program within the tissue and creates the release of repair mechanisms.

These mechanisms include the release of angiogenic growth factors, which leads to vessel sprouting (angiogenesis) and the activation of stem cells, which in turn causes new vessel formation (vasculogenesis.)

Shockwave Variations - Two Types of Shockwave

When exploring Shockwave it is important to know the different applications.

Extracorporeal Focused Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) or deep impulse Shockwave is designed to provide a deeper, more focused treatment for ligament, muscle, and tendon damage as well as arthritic joints. As opposed to RSWT it promotes muscle and bone repair through the increase in bone cell activity (Osteoblasts) necessary for the repair of minor bone fractures. This soundwave gets stronger the deeper it travels and is more comfortable and comprehensive in its repair of tissue recruiting the body’s healing ability.

Radial Shockwave Therapy (RSWT) treats more superficial areas of muscle damage or trigger points that loses its energy the deeper it travels and is reported to be uncomfortable compared to ESWT. RSWT does not recruit the body’s natural stem cell response.

For More Information

Schedule a 45-Minute Initial Consultation and Focused Exam including an initial session of Shockwave.

Your fist visit will consist of a consultation to discuss symptoms, and a regional exam to determine if you are a candidate for Shockwave. This session will also consist of a Focused Shockwave session to introduce the technique and begin the healing process.

Treatment cost will vary depending on the condition and region of the body treated. Our individually designed programs go beyond pain relief, providing functional support and strength of the treatment area.
